Emily Finer is Associate Professor in the School of Modern Languages at the University of St Andrews in Scotland. She researches transnational and multilingual interactions between English, Polish, Ukrainian, Yiddish and Russian language cultures, specialising in children’s literature, translation, interdisciplinarity and science fiction. She is Co-Director of the St Andrews Centre for Exoplanet Science; has contributed to podcasts and programmes on BBC Radio, including
In Our Time with Melvyn Bragg, and
Futurescaping Space; and, is academic advisor to the 2024 exhibition
Alien Worlds.
